The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) unites telecommunications standards bodies as "Organizational Partners" who determine the general policy and strategy of 3GPP, with the overall goal of creating technical specifications and reports for the evolving mobile ecosystem, radio access technologies, and data rates.

The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) produces globally-applicable standards for Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), including fixed, mobile, radio, converged, broadcast and internet technologies. ETSI is officially recognized by the European Union as a European Standards Organization.

The MultiService Forum ( is a global association of service providers, systems suppliers and test equipment vendors committed to developing and promoting open-architecture, multiservice Next Generation Networks. Founded in 1998, the MSF is an open-membership organization comprised of the world's leading telecommunications companies. The MSF's activities include developing Implementation Agreements, promoting worldwide compatibility and interoperability of network elements, and encouraging input to appropriate national and international standards bodies.

The PCCA (Portable Computer and Communications Association) evaluates wireless technologies and mobile-communications architectures. It also promotes wireless interoperability through workshops and analysis, and develops industry recommendations. It addresses the interaction between networks, devices, interfaces, computing platforms, middleware and applications.

The Small Cell Forum - formerly the Femto Forum - supports, promotes and helps drive the wide-scale adoption of small cell technologies to improve coverage, capacity and services delivered by mobile networks.

The Wi-Fi Alliance is a global non-profit industry association of hundreds of leading companies devoted to seamless connectivity. With technology development, market building, and regulatory programs, the Wi-Fi Alliance has enabled widespread adoption of Wi-Fi worldwide. The Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ program was launched in March 2000.
