Products : SSX-3000 Overview

Stoke Session Exchange 3000 Stateful management of tens of thousands of secure, reliable, high-quality subscriber sessions over multiple access types requires modern product design. New challenges - such as cost-effective scaling of multi-access subscriber connections, granular session management, and improved service creation and control - must be addressed at the system level.

With this perspective, and in compliance with leading standards including 3GPP/2, ITU and PCMM, the Stoke Session Exchange (SSX) was designed and developed to deliver a wide range of mobile operator gateway functions to meet the challenges of rapidly growing mobile broadband data services for 3G and 4G network deployments. The SSX mobile broadband gateway offers fundamental feature, price and performance advantages over re-purposed routers or legacy session-oriented platforms.

SSX-3000 Feature Highlights

Carrier-Class Foundation
Lead Free RoHS Compliant The eco-friendly SSX-3000 hardware is a highly reliable, high density gateway platform with no single point of failure, and critical components are redundant and hot swappable. Additionally, the comprehensive StokeOS system software employs the latest high availability design principles, making it highly resilient with a modular architecture and feature set.

Mobile Broadband Gateway Capabilities for Today and Tomorrow
Stoke OS provides a highly scalable set of functions ranging from authentication and encryption, tunnel termination, traffic classification (DPI), QoS, charging and reporting, policy enforcement, access control, and routing. This rich set of functions, all performing at line rate, enables the SSX-3000 to be deployed for many mobile broadband access gateway roles that relieve pressure on today's 3G mobile infrastructures, including high density security gateway for femtocell and IP BTS deployments, wireless LAN Interworking packet data gateway for 3GPP networks, and wireless LAN packet data interworking function for 3GPP2 networks. In addition, the SSX-3000 was designed, provisioned, and dimensioned for 4G infrastructure roles like Access Services Network (ASN) Gateway for WiMAX networks, and PDN and Serving Gateway for LTE core networks to name a few.

A Contemporary System Architecture to Address New Challenges
Stoke's unique architecture distributes control, packet forwarding, encryption and switching functions to every line card, yielding linear scaling of subscribers and services. Unlike currently deployed gateway systems, operators do not have to trade off capacity in one area in order to access capacity in another. The SSX is New Machinery that helps operators re-tool their networks for today's and tomorrow's mobile broadband challenges.

Benefits Summary

Feature Benefits
Multiple Access Technologies, Multiple Access Methods Delivering broad support of access technologies in a single, multi-function device offers a leveraged Capex investment and ensures a long service life.
Multi-Function, Multi-Purpose Enables operators to reduce overall network device count and network complexity, driving efficiency into network operations
Operationally Efficient Requiring only two processing blade types (line card and management card), and consuming under 1200 watts of power fully loaded, the SSX reduces operations sparing and power costs
Compact, Modular, High-Density Enables operators to smoothly scale services from 8,000 to 240,000 active subscribers within a single 5RU footprint.
Multimedia Optimized Latency under 50 µseconds and line rate support for small packet sizes ensures smooth video and voice services delivery.
Optimal Scalability Subscribers, services and throughput scale linearly. Operators are not forced to trade off capacity in one functional area in order to access capacity in another.
Application Aware Awareness of the applications within subscriber sessions enables operations including charging, QoS, and policy enforcement. Embedded in the mobile broadband access gateway relieves pressure on mobile core elements.
Flexible Traffic Classification Comprehensive traffic classification allows easy bundling of mashups of applications, and flexible service classes support uniform treatment of the "subscriber service"
